Warcraft 3 - SkullCraft mod

So yeah I created a mod or skin for wc3. Check the picture below.

I will show you two ways in which you can customize your wc3. The first option is if you want to do it yourself while the second is my Skullcraft mod which I recommend.

I have a knack for customizing my games. Anything that seems editable can only get away from me for so long. In this tutorial I will show you how to change your Warcraft 3 Main Menu background to something unique and original. I assume you already have some image in mind, I will not tell you how to create one. I am sure you can find plenty on the internet if you do not want to create your own.

Creating your own custom warcraft 3 background is easy, creating and editing other elements of warcraft 3 is a bit more difficult, as you require a third party program, but that is beyond the scope of this tutorial.
Enough babble, let’s get started.

Option 1 - How to create your own background in Warcraft 3

1. First you need to enable local files by Warcraft. This is done through the registry. Be careful when editing the registry, as you may mess your system up. Only do as I say !
2. Open up your registry editor by going to run (Windows key + R) and type in “regedit”. Then navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III] – right click on the right panel and select new -> Dword value. Name it “Allow Local Files” and give it a value of “1”

If you are afraid of editing you registry simply copy this into a file and save it as “custombg.reg” and run it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III]
"Allow Local Files"=dword:00000001

3. Create the following directory: “Warcraft 3\UI\Glues\MainMenu\MainMenu3d_exp” – “warcraft 3\” is where your warcraft 3 is located. Myne would be “C:\Games\Warcraft 3\UI\Glues\MainMenu\MainMenu3d_exp”
4. Open up your image you would like to use with your favourite image editor, not Paint, as it does not support the file format “.tga”. Your image editor will need to support saving to that format.
Save your image as “MainMenu.tga” in the above mentioned directory. My path for the file is as follows: “C:\Games\Warcraft 3\UI\Glues\MainMenu\MainMenu3d_exp\MainMenu.tga”
5. You are now set, open up warcraft 3 and pat yourself on the back.

Option 2 - Installing the SkullCraft mod - RECOMMENDED

For this option you need to go download my mod.
